Hello All of My Wonderful Readers!
As many of you know, I spent the last week of August in Los Angeles going to some Michael Jackson themed events to celebrate what would have been his 68th birthday.
The highlight of my getaway was going to the historic Hayvenhurst Estate in Encino, CA for the King of Popcorn event, benefitting Prince Jackson's Heal Los Angeles Foundation.
I've been here three times--in 2022, 2024 and now 2026.And it's just as magical each time.
I always wanted my picture taken in front of the fountain and I finally got it!!!
I kind of ran wild all over the property. You could go around some of the first floor, the second floor was cordoned off, but my friend LaKisha, pictured below, tried to go upstairs and was stopped by security. Good try though. I was especially excited about the curling stairs outside; those go up to Michael Jackson's bedroom and those are the steps you saw his nephew running down in the biopic!
We were sitting in the room where you see "Katherine" and "Michael" eating ice cream and watching movies in the biopic! What you don't see is the amazing carved wood bar and the stained glass all around us!
This is John M and I owe this man LIFE. He's Prince Jackson's friend and business partner. About a week before I flew in my wallet was stolen and I lost my ID. You can't get into KOP without ID. I got in touch with John and he literally fixed it for me to attend the event. I thanked him profusely and I thanked God that I went to enough events he recognized me by sight. Not all heroes wear capes!
Jaafar was not there in person but they had one hell of a standup of him for a photo op and the whole "red carpet" area was styled as a Twister game board! So cute! I actually had a Twister shirt I was going to wear but changed my mind at the last minute.
I've met Prince four times I believe but this was my first time seeing/meeting Bigi (he no longer goes by Blanket, he's a grown man!) Both are incredibly sweet and kind and act just like Michael.
Before the film started, which is shown on a huuuuuge screen in the backyard with comfy chairs and beanbags there was a tribute to Michael of course.
OF COURSE THEY SCREENED THE BIOPIC!
Met the Amazing Rodrigo Teaser who was stunned I knew him! I was equally stunned he knew who I was! Made a new friend! Great guy!
My blind ass couldn't see the screen without my glasses! 🤓
We had plenty snacks, as many as we liked. I felt like a child again getting snowcones!
